        1. Supposedly, the raises on the electricity bills were attributed at the fact that they are upgrading said infrastructure. But you have to keep in mind that we pay more for the gallon of gas, too…
There are raises of the gas prices almost every month, or each two months.
Also, I said 30+ years but it could be even older too, closer to the age of your infrastructure…
Privatizing the electrical companies was completely useless, at least in our case. They didn’t upgrade anything, and poor service was one of the reasons given for said privatizations (blame Menem & co.) for allowing them.

        2. We’ve had raises for the same reason, but I get a discount due to low income:
          Lifeline
          Discount
          -35.42

Funny thing is, I got approved for it when I was still working. Shows you how crappy my job income was.

        3. I see… Many people had to file for discounts too, due for the same reasons than you. And while working, too.
The elderly are hit the worse, though. Most old people HAS to do it, they have no choice…
You also paid a lot of money on that bill then! That’s over 600 pesos around here, and we rarely pay more than 900 pesos on the electrical bill.
We try to save as much as we can, though.

  2. Yes, it was the highest so far, due to all the hot days in a row. I only have 3 fans & try to turn off the computer early but it adds up. We also have to pay a separate charge for the trash pick up.

      1. The trash is a private company that gets paid through the Dept of Water & Power. I don’t remember if it ever was the city, but probly is in some counties. We’re billed every 2 months.

Here’s a bill in May where I paid 8 cents for just electricity:

        Power Access Charge Tier 11.70 Tier 1Energy 290 kWh x $0.1461/kWh
        42.37

Lifeline Discount -35.42 Subtotal Energy Charges $8.65

        Water Credit -8.65
        Total Electric Charges $ 0.08

I’ve never known what the Water Credit is but it’s also discounted. So that was 4 cents a month that billing. HA! I’ll never see that again.

God, my stew smells good, but it’s heating up the whole kitchen/living room. I cook with gas.

        1. Hahahahahahaha, that’s like a peso and maybe twenty cents. You can’t purchase anything with that money…!
I’ll leave you free, you gotta eat and using the ‘puter with that temp must be like hell!!

      1. It’s been 4 days of 93 – 97 – 102 – 104 – 100 – today 93. Slowly going down. By the time you’re sunbathing on the beach, hopefully we’ll be huddling in our sweaters.

        I haven’t seen snow in 30 yrs.

        1. It snowed four years ago… but snow is also a rarity here too.
It’s still hotter than the temps we have around here, they are on the mid-high seventies, I think.
This last couple of days it has been cloudy, almost as if it were to rain. No rain yet, although nights have been cool…
I’ve always thought that Christmas without snow is a bit… “lacking”. Lacking of charm.
How are you doing? Are you still recovering from that cold?
